Japan Trip 2018 - Day 2

Breakfast with Chef Mickey
Disneyland Tokyo

Rise and Shine!

We woke up early to get ready for the princess' highlight of the trip - Breakfast with Chef Mickey. As hotel guests staying at the Disney Ambassador Hotel, we were given exclusive privilege to have breakfast with the icon of Disneyland. Lunch and dinner are however open to the public.
Character dining is a massive hit in Disneyland, be it among the adults or children. Thus, it's highly recommended to make a reservation way in advance. I made this reservation 2 months in advance via the official website and the 9am slot was the only available timing.

For breakfast, there is a 90 minutes time limit. The time given is more than sufficient to eat AND have many photo opportunities.
The Disney characters will take turns to go to each table to interact and take photos with the guests. From our observation, they have a designated and organised routine to follow so that they will not omit any guests.
If you missed your chance with your favourite Disney character, just tell any staff and they will gladly arrange the character to be at your table promptly.

Can barely contain her excitement

Everything will be set up nicely before
you are seated

There will be a staff on standby nearby your table at any time so that they can help you take your family photo. You don't even need to ask - just wave and they will come running to your table!

Before we even have a chance to grab any food, look who's here!

She literally went up to hug Chef Mickey!

This miso pasta is yummy!

The food selection was a good spread of both western and Japanese selection. Every dish was presented neatly and cleanly - at least I didn't see any stains or spills on the table. Food was replenished regularly - there was no empty dish at any point in time.
The service standard of the staff was probably a norm among the Japanese but certainly a notch higher than what we experienced in Singapore. The table will be set nicely before you are seated, including the children cutlery set. The coffee and tea served were piping hot. Plates were cleared promptly the moment you stepped away.

While enjoying her food, the princess kept her eyes glued on the next possible Disney character who might pop by our table.

It was certainly a wonderful experience, not only for the kids but also for the adults. No wonder seats were booked out so fast! There are many character dining restaurants located at Disney resort but we prefer the comfort and convenience of breakfast character dining at this hotel. I highly recommend this option if it's within your means.

Finally meet her favourite Minnie Mouse

Hello Daisy Duck

Before we made our move, Chef Mickey came back again. Who can resist taking more photos with him?

After breakfast, we took the Disney Resort Cruiser (aka shuttle bus) to Disneyland.

This will be our third visit to Disney resort as we've been to Disneyland in Anaheim and DisneySea Tokyo. The big kid in me is never sick of visiting Disney theme parks. I mean, come on, this is the place where dreams come true (my other half will beg to differ). So, I'm going to bring my princess to fulfil her dream of visiting this magical place.

To save us time for park entrance tickets, we purchased our tickets online from Klook in advance. It's so simple and efficient. Just click on your options, key in your credit card details and Klook will send the confirmation to your email address. Just print out the confirmation and scan the QR barcode at the entrance. That's it!

Check out the cute hand bars!

Mr Tan does not seem as excited eh?

Even the aircon vent has Mickey ears!

We were greeted by this strong gust of wind that nearly blew us away when we got out of the bus. It had us scrambling for our scarf and gloves.

While the father was helping the princess with her gloves,
the mother was only interested in selfie.

Her dream came true ~~~~~~

The wind had no mercy to my hair

The theme during our visit was Frozen!
We saw Fairy Godmother at the entrance

We just had to buy the Minnie Mouse headband

With dark clouds looming over us, it started to drizzle by the time we reached the castle grounds. So we decided to visit Cinderella's Fairy Tale Hall while hoping the weather will clear up later.
At the Cinderella's Fairy Hall, the story is told through beautiful murals and objects. You can even try your luck in fitting the famous glass slipper. Who knows - your prince might just appear!

When the clock strike 12mn......
Yes! The shoe fits!

And they lived happily ever after
Opppssss cannot fit in!

The glass slipper

It was still drizzling when we finished the Cinderella's castle tour and the princess was complaining of hunger. So we stopped for lunch at Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall (Fantasyland).

As you enter the restaurant, expect to be greeted by some "player cards guards" on two sides. The interior is bright and cheerful and yet cosy. The restaurant serves western cuisine and there is a child menu available (every parent relief!). The food will be displayed on the serving table and you can just take whatever you fancy. Think IKEA café style and you will know what I mean. But it was a really tough choice for us as everything look so yummy!

The dessert selection

Just take whatever you like to eat!

Child meal
Tomato fried rice with meat patty and corn
Left ear - Fruit jelly
Right ear - potato salad with broccoli
Comes with a choice of drink

Daddy's choice
Rotisserie chicken

Mummy's choice
Assortment of seafood
Chocolate mousse cake

Yoghurt mousse with fruits topping
And you get to bring back the cup!
If you see carefully, the dessert is contained in a plastic cup
and placed on top of the pink ceramic cup.
After finishing the dessert, just remove the plastic cup and put the pink cup in the
bag that the restaurant provides.
Thoughtfulness to the max!

Her smile says it all
After lunch and ready to charge outside!

We were all charged up and ready to have some fun after lunch. Unfortunately, the weather did not seem to be on our side. It was raining heavily by now and all the outdoor rides were closed. So we went to the nearest carousel ride. At least it was sheltered.

The princess insisted I ride on a horse as well

When we finished the carousel ride, we heard that the parade was starting soon. But it was still raining! As we waited patiently at the curb side, the rain escalated to a heavy downpour. We had to hold on to our umbrella dearly with the strong gust of winds. It was even more challenging to take photos in the rain! I just took as many photos as I can and hope for the best! So glad I didn't drop my phone!
A big credit ought to be given to all performers and staff. They carried on their duties with a smile on their faces despite the wet condition. Such professionalism.

The first time I watched the parade in the rain

My princess was just contended to meet her favourite
Princess Belle

My hands were practically frozen by now and the temperature started to dip as low as 6 degree Celsius. The princess was showing signs of food coma but we couldn't find a café nearby to rest. So we made the best out of the situation by sitting on the cold wet floor while the princess took her nap.

Who says you cannot have an ice cream in
cold and wet weather? Haha
And this ice cream is super good!
When she need to sleep, she will sleep anywhere anyhow
anytime!

Self entertainment - taking a wefie!

And she slept like this for an hour or so!

While the princess was sleeping, we "self entertained" ourselves with ice cream, observed others whose umbrellas were "flipped up" by the strong winds and took turns to stretch our legs.
After an hour or so, we saw that the rain has finally stopped! Wooohooo! We woke the sleeping beauty up, promising her popcorn. Reluctantly, she woke up albeit in a daze.

We hurried to the nearest popcorn cart, only to be informed that the popcorn has been sold out. So we decided to go for the nearest ride first - Pooh's Hunny Hunt. Initially, the princess was reluctant to take the ride for fear of the dark environment. After much assurance, she enjoyed the ride and commented it was fun.

Cute vending machine spotted

The crowd may look manageable but .........
WHAT?!
Luckily we managed to "bribe" her with
marshmallows

Despite the bad weather, the crowd was patient and lines
were organised

The aroma of popcorn lured us out of Pooh's Hunny Hut. Yeah! Finally we can have some popcorn! But our happiness was short-lived as it started to rain again when we were in line at the popcorn cart. Sob sob ~~~~
Hoping for the best, we made our way to Toontown, only to find ourselves totally drenched. With our two umbrellas in a bad shape (the wind broke the ribs/tip), we had no choice but to purchase raincoats. The rain did not show any signs of stopping and there was an announcement informing us that the Frozen parade and the fireworks had to be cancelled due to poor weather condition. Feeling defeated, we decided to make our way back to our hotel.

Trying her luck at the toys vending machine
She won the Daisy Duck toy - what she wished for
We will be back!

It's a shame we didn't get to explore and enjoy the park to our heart's content. And we certainly underutilised our park entrance ticket price by going on 2 rides only. The fight against the weather (all the running and taking cover) depleted our energy and had started to take a toll on our fatigued bodies. So we decided to say goodbye with a hint of regret to Disneyland at about 6pm.
We bought our dinner at the convenience store in our hotel (See! The advantage of such amenity) and rested early for the night as we had an early morning bus/flight to catch.

The best food to have on a cold and wet night
And dessert!

It's not farewell.... Just Goodbye.... We will be back soon, Disneyland!
