Family Road Trip - K.L/Genting Highlands - Day 3

Hotel Buffet Breakfast
Awana Skyway (next to Genting Highlands Premium Outlet)
Genting Highlands - Sky Avenue
Madam Kwan's Restaurant
Genting Highlands Premium Outlet
Qui Lin Seafood

I love eating hotel's breakfast buffet - the aromatic coffee flavour that lingers in the air and the wide selection of breakfast items that I don't get to eat on a usual day.

As per the usual practice, my daughter and myself went ahead with the rest of the family for breakfast.
To my dismay, the breakfast at the hotel was disappointing. While the selection had the usual eggs and cereals counters, the hot dishes section were sadly lacking in variety. To make matters worse, the restaurant seemed to be understaffed - the dishes were often left looking pathetic in the warmers, hot beverages will take a long time to be served and long lines thronged the stations.
Perhaps I had high expectations of breakfast to be served in a 5-star hotel. There was certainly more room for improvement.

Let's go for breakfast!
Not that many photos taken as there were
really nothing muh

After breakfast, we departed from the hotel and made our way to Genting Highlands.
There are 2 ways to travel up to this place favoured by the elderly (don't ask me why but most grandparents love to visit Genting).
One is to drive all the way up to Genting Highlands, manoeuvring the numerous curves and turns up the mountain.
The other way is to drive until the Genting Highlands Premium Outlet and transfer to a cable car ride (Awana Skyway) up.
We chose the latter as we have never taken this newly installed cable car ride before and I was relieved we went with this option as the car ride up to the highway mark had me feeling nauseous already. I cannot imagine if we had continued the ride.

Such a blessing to be able to sleep through the ride
Ticketing machine for the Skyway ride
Check out the crowd!
Luckily, we had our "VIPs" with us who took us
through the priority line

Now, folks who know me will know that I have acrophobia (fear of heights). So it really took me a lot of guts to take the ride. As expected, I was silently saying my prayers throughout the ride.

Putting on a forced smile
Enjoying the ride

It took us some time to finally reach the peak and we decided to have lunch first. So, we went to Madam Kwan's which served Malaysian cuisine at an affordable price.
One thing I've observed so far - the service at most restaurants were at a leisurely pace. So, you really got to be patient!

It was just plain silly to place the marshmallow on the noodles!
So it became soya sauce soaked marshmallow.
And this was how the kids meal drink was served.

After lunch, we went our separate ways.
While my brother and sister-in-law went to contribute their "donations" to the casino, we brought my Dad to the very first Genting hotel to walk down memory lane.
Many things may have changed but this hotel remains the icon of Genting Highlands.
I still remembered vividly my childhood days here with my family and cousins. During our time, travelling to Genting for a vacation was a big thing for us kids and we would attempt to "sneak" into the casino by dressing like an adult. But alas, we were always caught! Haha.
The last time I visited Genting was during our dating days. Maybe 20 years ago!?
To be frank, I'm not a big fan of Genting as I age as I cannot manage car/coach ride as well compared to my teens years. I find it a torture to be trapped in a vehicle for so many hours. On the other hand, taking a flight is easier for me as I could walk around the aircraft for some movements.

3 generations in one photo!

Waiting patiently for us

She will not give up the chance for this!
Ready...….
Steady...…..
Eat!
We bumped into Pokémon parade by chance

While the 2 men (my dad and my other half) went to "look see look see" the casino, I brought our princess to the newly-opened indoor amusement park.
It may be due to the Christmas season and also the novelty of this park, this place was really packed like sardines!
I had to stand in line with the princess for 1 hour just for a 3mins ride on the carousel. And when she was done with one round, I suggested going on a different ride but she wanted to go on the carousel again. What? Again? Faint ………..
And it was at this moment when my (or rather her) knight in shining armour appeared - her Daddy. So I sent the doting Dad to accompany her for the ride while I get some "ME" time which was well-spent visiting the toilet and just finding any vacant seats nearby to take a rest. I was simply too tired to do whatever shopping!

Ok! Let's go!

When you are happy, we are happy

By the time everyone gathered to take the cable car ride down to the Premium Outlet, the princess had fallen asleep. We had to take turns carrying her from the mall to the cable car station, take the cable car and find a place for her to take her beauty sleep.
As for my princess, she couldn't care less where we "parked" her. She could sleep anywhere, anyhow and anytime.

Phew~~~ Managed to find a couch seat at
Godiva Café
While she was sleeping....
Some peaceful couple time

We had to wake the sleeping beauty up from her nap when it was beginning to turn dark and we had to leave for dinner. Reluctantly, she obliged and we were on the way to the highlight of the day.
My brother brought us to this restaurant called Qui Lin Seafood which was located at Gohtong Jaya (which is about the halfway mark of Genting Highland). We could see many restaurants and shops here, along with many tour buses. I reckon this is the place where most tour operators stop for dinner.

This shop is indeed amazing - it may look laidback and old school but it certainly make it up with the quality of their food. I find this such an irony compared to what I have experienced this morning - high class looking restaurant serving mediocre food vs plain-looking restaurant dishing out the best food.
Looking at the way we polished off the food, it was definitely one of the best meal of the trip.

No menu. Just order from the photos on the wall!

Waaaaaaa… such an old fashioned way of "cleaning" the
utensils

The highlight of the meal!
My Dad loved it!

Deep Fried Pig Intestines
La-La Soup

Happy Family!

With the super-satisfying dinner, we headed back to our hotel to rest for the night.
